Kalben's musical journey began at the age of 8, when her mother bought her a keyboard. She got her first guitar at the age of 14, a second-hand Santana. At 17, she was awarded a scholarship to study at Bilkent University's International Relations Department, from which she graduated in 2007. After exploring various career paths, she started her master's degree in Media and Cultural Studies at the same university's Graphic Design Department in 2008 and graduated in 2011. After writing a thesis on ways of preserving memories and mementos, she moved to Istanbul to find work. She began working as a brand manager at Universal Pictures. She later worked in various fields, including screenwriting, editing, project management, copywriting, and translation. Despite her busy schedule, she continued to occasionally make music and perform concerts in Ankara and Istanbul. On October 18, 2014, her performance of "Sadece" with just her guitar, recorded at a house in Galata as part of Sofar Sounds, quickly became the most-watched video among Sofar videos.
