The ever changing electronic music scene of Istanbul will witness a couple of hours of beautiful sounds created by a prodigious artist, Jimmy Edgar on the 28th of October in Zorlu PSM Studio.
With impressive record deals with Warp, !K7, Hotflush and Ultramajic under his belt, Edgar will bring a record box full of surprises, hidden gems, techno milestones and hip-hop influenced bangers.
Emerging from the iconic city of Detroit, Edgar has made his crucial boom at the age of 18 when he was signed by the emblematic record company Warp which is home to the likes of Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Brian Eno and Flying Lotus to name a few… This breakthrough opened good amounts of important doors to the young producer. One was the chance to spin records next to the techno titans such as Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May and Juan Atkins.
After the properly earned success of the album Color Strip (which is the ideal marriage of IDM & hip-hop genres) the flourishing producer made his way to New York to persue new horizons which lead to various different projects under pseudonyms like Her Bad Habit, Noir Friction, Michaux and Kristuit Salu and Morris Nightingale. These musically contrasting projects delivered his experimental, offbeat sounds of glitch, hip-hop and IDM.
Mixing three very distinctive sounds such as Minneapolis Funk, California Hip-Hop and Euro Electro is a troublesome task, but nor for Jimmy Edgar. Various musical affairs with Steve Mason of The Beta Band, Machinedrum and Laura Clarke resulted in 1983 born producer’s unique blend of sui generis sounds.
This one and only melodies and harmonies of the accessible techno resulted in monstrous hits such as This One’s for the Children, We Like You, Hot Raw Sex and Turn You Inside Out to name a few. These numerous hits, gruesome albums and diabolical mixtapes drove the artist to play at respectable destinations this year, such as The Warehouse Project, Holy Ship, Mysterland, Fabric, Hard Summer.
Prolific musician, producer, director, graphic designer and overall renaissance man of creativity; Jimmy Edgar will be destroying the dance floor of Zorlu PSM Studio on the 28th of October. This one’s not for the children, that is for sure!
