One of the iconic landmarks of Izmir, the Historical Gas Factory has become one of the city's significant cultural centers through restoration works carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality. Established in 1862, the Gas Factory was actively used in the 1900s to supply electricity to the city. Transferred to municipal management during the Republican era, the venue opened as a cultural center in 2008 after its restoration.
The Historical Gas Factory houses a cafeteria, administrative building, reading room, art units sales building, and workshop building. Since its opening, the Gas Factory has hosted numerous events, including concerts, exhibitions, and talks. The center can accommodate up to 5,000 people for concerts.
