About the Artists:
Burhan Öçal’s Trio Leyla & Alex Wilson
Rhythm, jazz, and tradition
Renowned percussion master Burhan Öçal, who has taken part in countless projects throughout his career, invites his audience on a musical journey rooted in the traditions of these lands with his new group, Trio Leyla—named after his daughter. This project blends jazz, rhythm, and classical music in a deeply personal and inspired expression.
More than just a professional collaboration, Trio Leyla reflects a profound bond—a father’s spiritual legacy to his daughter.
On this East-meets-West musical path, Istanbul’s own songs intertwine with jazz and improvisation. Joining Öçal on darbuka, Savaş Özkök on qanun, and Sedef Erçetin on cello is master pianist Alex Wilson, who brings his English-Latin roots and the spirit of jazz improvisation to the ensemble.
Jehan Barbur
Born on April 12, 1980, in Beirut and raised in Iskenderun, Jehan Barbur graduated from Bilkent University’s Department of American Culture and Literature in 2002 and then moved to Istanbul. As a producer, songwriter, composer, singer, and literary author, she continues to be a prolific figure in both the music and literary worlds.
Since 2009, she has released several albums including Uyan, Hayat, Sarı, Sizler Hiç Yokken, Evim Neresi, and Ürkerek Söylerim, as well as singles like Kusura Bakmasınlar, Güzel Şeyler Var, and Yabancı. After contributing poems and columns to various magazines, she has also published books.
Elif Çağlar Quartet

She has also made her mark in global vocal competitions, including as a finalist for the DownBeat Rising Star Vocalist award.
Önder Focan Quartet feat. Meltem Ege
Led by one of the pioneers of Turkish jazz guitar, Önder Focan’s quartet blends classic swing vibes with Anatolian melodies, creating a sound uniquely their own. Their performances are complemented by the warm and dynamic vocals of young singer Meltem Ege. The group has earned acclaim at prestigious festivals around the world. Focan was named “Musician of the Year” in 2018 by the Turkish Jazz Society, and his latest album Swing à la Turc was nominated for “Best International Album” at the Japan Jazz Journal Awards.
