Michael Baltra is originally from Philadelphia, but he discovered his passion for dance music in New York. His journey began at raves in the Meatpacking District, which led him from DJing to music production. His debut track The Vision, released in 2014, quickly gained a wide audience with its lo-fi drums and ‘80s-inspired vocals. Though often associated with lo-fi and filter house, Baltra is an artist who refuses to be confined by genre. His productions move seamlessly through dubstep, ambient, electro, and jungle, with releases on respected labels like Local Action, Shall Not Fade, and Future Classic. Through his own label, 96 and Forever, he released his debut album Ted in 2019, a heartfelt tribute to his father, who passed away from cancer. Drawing inspiration from his father's songwriting, the album was praised for its emotional melodies and captivating synth work. In 2024, Baltra is pushing his musical vision even further. New singles like Echoes of Us and Twisted Ways once again showcase his deep, forward-thinking sound.
