Goldie (Clifford Joseph Price), is a British DJ, producer, visual artist, and actor widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the development of jungle and drum & bass. Emerging during the UK rave scene of the 1990s, he became known for pushing electronic music forward by blending breakbeats with orchestral textures and emotional vocal elements.
Beginning his career as a graffiti artist in the early 1980s, Goldie later immersed himself in New York’s hip-hop culture in 1986, where he also developed his signature gold dental jewellery, which became part of his iconic image. He started releasing music under the alias “Rufige Kru” and co-founded the influential Metalheadz label in 1994, which played a major role in shaping the drum & bass scene and supporting artists such as Photek and Source Direct.
His 1995 debut album "Timeless", featuring the iconic track “Inner City Life,” is considered a landmark in electronic music history. He later released "Saturnz Return" (1998) and "The Journey Man" (2017), continuing to evolve his sound while maintaining his distinctive artistic identity. Beyond music, Goldie has appeared in films and television, and in 2016 he was awarded an MBE for his contributions to music and the arts. He remains active today through live performances, DJ sets, and ongoing creative projects.
