Egyptian Lover is widely regarded as one of the most innovative producers of the 1980s electro and old-school hip-hop scene. Influenced by early electro classics like Planet Rock as well as funk and soul, he began gaining attention with his Los Angeles based productions starting in 1983.
He achieved a major breakthrough with “Egypt, Egypt” in 1984 and continued to shape DJ culture for years with tracks like “What Is a DJ If He Can’t Scratch,” “And My Beat Goes Boom,” and “Computer Love.” Strengthening his discography with albums such as On the Nile, One Track Mind, and Back from the Tomb, Egyptian Lover remained active beyond the 2000s, continuing to produce and perform while solidifying his place as a lasting figure in electro music.
