The Gathering is a band from the Netherlands formed in 1989, known for continuously evolving its musical identity over the years. Starting out with a doom and gothic metal sound, the band gradually shifted toward a more experimental and layered style, incorporating electronic elements, atmospheric textures, and trip-rock influences.
With 11 studio albums and several EPs released to date, The Gathering has built a diverse discography, rarely repeating itself from one record to another. Tracks like “Strange Machines,” “Travel,” “You Learn About It,” and “Heroes for Ghosts” stand out among their most recognized work. Through extensive tours across Europe and the Americas, they have reached a wide international audience.
Since 2008, with Silje Wergeland on vocals, the band has continued its journey independently, releasing music through its own label. With its ever-evolving sound and strong atmospheric approach, The Gathering holds a distinctive and respected place in the alternative rock scene.
