Mathame
Amedeo and Matteo, the duo behind Mathame, are leading the EmoTech movement by connecting global audiences through transformative music that transcends genres, generations, and dimensions. Far more than just a DJ duo, Mathame crafts sonic journeys that unfold like emotional odysseys, blurring the boundaries between imagination and reality.
Raised in a household shaped by their parents' pirate radio culture, the brothers developed a deep appreciation for vinyl and cassette music from an early age. Matteo transitioned from hip-hop DJing into filmmaking, cultivating the cinematic vision that would become central to Mathame's immersive storytelling. Meanwhile, Amedeo's classical training in violin and clarinet found new expression in electronic music production, completing the creative synergy that defines their unmistakable sound.
Mathame's music bridges cinematic storytelling with melodic techno, forging a deeply emotional and forward-thinking musical identity. As one of Afterlife's standout artists, the duo has taken tracks such as Skywalking and Nothing Around Us to some of the world's most prestigious stages, including Coachella, Hï Ibiza, and Sphere Las Vegas, building a devoted global following across continents.
Operating at the intersection of music, technology, and immersive art, Mathame also brings a unique creative vision to brand collaborations. Their AI-powered Old Neural Mixtape Vol. 1, developed for Apple's M1 chip, reimagined DJ performance by recomposing harmonies, vocals, and beats in real time. The project later evolved into a groundbreaking 3D audiovisual performance that premiered on YouTube before making its live debut at Zamna Tulum. Their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year, FAR, NEAR, NOWHERE, further cemented their reputation as visionary artists and conceptual innovators.
Their debut album MEMO, named one of Forbes' Top 15 Albums of 2023, laid the foundation for Mathame's self-defined EmoTech movement, where emotional storytelling meets futuristic electronic music. At the center of this universe is NEO—a monumental eight-meter-tall installation conceived in Japan and showcased at selected locations, surrounded by a curated lineup of artists admired by Mathame. It represents a new ritual of sound and light, pushing electronic music into a deeper, more cinematic dimension.
The story behind NEO unfolds through NEOLOGY, a parallel audiovisual show presented during selected festival and headline performances. Told through a non-linear, anime-inspired film, NEOLOGY reveals the mythology behind the installation and expands the narrative universe created by the duo.
If NEO is the experience, NEOLOGY is its explanation. Together, these complementary projects form a unified narrative universe that reflects Mathame's ongoing exploration of the sacred, the futuristic, and the emotional.
Mathame's audiovisual live concept NEOLOGY premiered on Tomorrowland's Freedom Stage and continues to appear at major festivals worldwide. At the same time, the duo is expanding its storytelling into film and television, with a screenplay currently in development to bring the NEOLOGY universe to life on screen.
Their 2025 releases—including the high-energy club track KOKO, the emotionally driven Love Somebody, and the major collaboration with Tiësto, Everlight—highlight Mathame's continued evolution as masters of emotional, narrative-driven electronic music. Following sold-out performances in Buenos Aires, Dubai, New York, and Ibiza, they continue to captivate audiences around the world. Whether in the studio, on stage, or behind the scenes, Mathame keeps building new worlds. Guided by the philosophy of EmoTech, they are shaping not only the sound of the future, but its soul.
