On October 2, we gather at Frankhan Selectist to commemorate Mehmet Uluğ and the profound mark he left on the city’s music scene, 13 years after his passing.
This year’s Mehmet Uluğ Night, an annual highlight of the Akbank Jazz Festival, welcomes Bugge Wesseltoft to the stage. Since the ’90s, the Norwegian musician has brought jazz into dialogue with the production techniques and aesthetics of electronic, ambient and club music. Through solo albums that explore different directions, group projects including New Conception of Jazz, OKWorld! and RYMDEN, as well as numerous collaborations, Wesseltoft has spent decades shaping a distinctive language of jazz. Most recently, he released his fifth solo album, AM ARE, in March 2025.
For Mehmet Uluğ Night, Wesseltoft will perform with his project named after New Conception of Jazz, his debut album that earned him a Norwegian Grammy and quickly became a classic. He will be joined on stage by cellist Gülşah Erol.
