Known worldwide for his melancholic vocals, dark electronic atmospheres, and distinctive musical storytelling, Swedish artist Jay-Jay Johanson takes the stage at Blind on April 9, with the support of Modundayız. Blending trip-hop, downtempo, jazz, and electronic music in his own unique style, Jay-Jay Johanson has remained one of the most distinctive figures in the alternative music scene since beginning his career in the mid-1990s. Known for his delicate vocals, melancholic storytelling, and cinematic soundscapes, the artist invites listeners into a timeless musical world of his own. With career-defining tracks such as “So Tell the Girls That I Am Back in Town,” “Believe in Us,” “Far Away,” and “She Doesn't Live Here Anymore,” Johanson has built a wide audience over the years. Throughout his discography, he has continued to develop his signature sound by blending electronic music with elements of jazz, ambient, and trip-hop. His upcoming album, Arsenic, scheduled for release on March 5, 2027, marks a new chapter in Jay-Jay Johanson’s musical journey. Recorded in Stockholm and Paris, the album combines his signature noir atmospheres with different textures of jazz and electronic music. Rather than treating melancholy as a musical backdrop, Arsenic places it at the heart of its storytelling, inviting listeners on a cinematic, dark, and introspective musical journey. On the album, Johanson is joined by his longtime collaborators Erik Jansson (piano), Johan Skugge (effects), Jeff Tekeyan (double bass), and Fredrik Wennerlund (drums), alongside jazz trumpeter Linnea Jansson and several guest vocalists. The album was mixed and mastered by Alex Gopher. Known for his minimalist stage presence, emotional depth, and distinctive vocal performances, Jay-Jay Johanson creates an intimate atmosphere that draws audiences into his musical world.
