Maximum Sunar : Yann Tiersen

French composer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist Yann Tiersen returns to Istanbul after a long-awaited break! Known for his musical elegance and deeply emotive compositions, Yann Tiersen will take the stage at Maximum Uniq Open Air on Saturday, October 10, presented by Stagepass. Before Yann Tiersen, Resa Saffa Park, Alice Boyd, and Islandman will warm up the evening with their performances. Celebrating 30 years of his career this year, Yann Tiersen’s musical journey began when he started playing the piano at the age of four. After forming his first band at thirteen, he immersed himself in the punk rock scene, playing guitar and synth. Following four years in a punk band, he launched his solo career using synths, samplers, and drum machines. During this period, he began exploring sampling, combining different instruments to create his distinctive motorik acoustic miniatures. With his album “Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour,” released this year, Tiersen reveals a period of both musical and personal transformation. Divided into two parts, the album reflects his deep connection with nature and his minimalist approach. While “Rathlin from a Distance” offers an introspective journey through eight piano pieces, “The Liquid Hour” opens the door to a boundary-pushing sonic world of electronic textures and psychedelic rhythms. At his Istanbul concert, Tiersen will share a special selection from his new album. Known for his minimalist compositions, emotional intensity, and captivating stage presence, Tiersen will offer audiences much more than a concert—an artistic experience where music, nature, sound, and emotion come together.
